Diwali Home Makeover: How New Blinds Change a Room in One Week

Paint takes a weekend and a week of smell. Blinds take forty-five minutes and change the light in every photo.
Every Diwali the same list appears: whitewash, new cushion covers, maybe a sofa. Most of it is either slow, messy or expensive. Window blinds are the one upgrade that changes how a room looks in daylight and in every evening photo, and they go up in under an hour per room.
Why blinds make the biggest visual difference
A room is mostly lit by its windows. Old curtains that have faded unevenly, a broken venetian slat or a mismatched set of panels pull the eye straight to the glass. Replace them with clean, made-to-measure fabric and the walls, floor and furniture suddenly read as one finished space — that is why interior designers fit window treatments last.
- Daytime: sunscreen or translucent fabric softens harsh light so walls look evenly lit.
- Evening: a warm-toned fabric reflects diya and fairy-light glow back into the room instead of losing it to a black window.
- Photos: a uniform backdrop behind family pictures instead of a cluttered window.
Choose the colour for night, not just day
Festive rooms are seen mostly after dark. Ivory, sand, warm grey and soft gold fabrics glow when lamps are on; stark white can look clinical, and very dark shades swallow light. If you want one statement room, a deep terracotta or olive in the living room works beautifully against warm lighting — keep bedrooms calmer.

Roller or zebra for a festive living room?
Roller blinds
One clean sheet of fabric. They disappear when rolled up and give the most minimal, gallery-like look. Roller blinds start at ₹100 per sq ft, with most fabrics between ₹100 and ₹130, GST included.
Zebra blinds
Alternating sheer and solid bands that you slide to control light without lifting the blind. They add texture and a slightly more decorative look — ideal if guests will be in the room through the afternoon. Zebra blinds run ₹120–₹190 per sq ft.
A realistic festive timeline
Made-to-measure blinds are cut to your exact window, so plan backwards from the day you want them up:
- Measure today. Use the AR measuring tool or book a free site measurement anywhere in Delhi NCR.
- Order within two days. Fabrication and delivery take 7–21 days depending on fabric and quantity.
- Installation. Our own team fits each window in roughly 30–45 minutes with no dust beyond a few drill holes.
If Diwali is too close, prioritise the rooms guests actually see — the living room and the dining area — and do bedrooms after the festival.
What a festive refresh actually costs
Every blind is billed on a minimum of 10 sq ft, so small windows do not cost less than that floor. For a typical living room with two 5×5 ft windows (50 sq ft):
- Roller, standard fabric: roughly ₹5,000–₹6,500
- Zebra, mid-range fabric: roughly ₹6,000–₹9,500
Prices include GST, and every order carries a 3-year warranty on fabric, mechanism and motor. For a full breakdown by fabric see the 2026 price guide.
Five quick festive checks before you order
- Measure every window separately — Indian windows that look identical are often 1–2 cm apart.
- Decide inside or outside mount; outside mount hides old frames and uneven plaster.
- Pick blackout only where you sleep; living rooms usually want light-filtering.
- Keep chains away from where diyas and candles will sit.
- Order one extra swatch look in evening light before you commit to a colour.
Frequently asked questions
Can blinds be installed a day before Diwali?
Installation itself is quick, but fabrication takes 7–21 days, so the order needs to be placed well before. Book the measurement as early as possible.
Are blinds safe near diyas and candles?
Keep any open flame at least a foot away from fabric and never place diyas on a sill directly under a blind. Roll the blind up fully if lamps sit on the window ledge.
