Choose the colour for the hour the room is used — everything else is decoration.

Blind colour is the accent upholstery no one thinks about until the room is finished. The logic below is not taste — it is how each family behaves in Indian light and Indian dust.

The families, and their best job

  • Ivory / cream: warms the room, hides dust, plays well against wood. The default for living rooms across the country — harder to get wrong than it is fashionable to admit
  • Sand / oatmeal: ivory's grounded sibling, reads expensive on zebra bands, kind to older furniture
  • Slate and cool grey: calm, contemporary, best on bright south elevations where the light can carry the coolness
  • Olive and olive-grey: the balcony and garden-facing favourite — holds itself against foliage instead of competing
  • Charcoal: the screen wall's best friend and the balcony's night curtain; pair with light walls or the room shrinks
  • Terracotta / rust: warmth for east windows and older homes; the glowing-hour fabric, less so in overcast light

Room-by-room in one line each

  1. Living room: ivory, sand or warm grey — the wall the sofa is seen against
  2. Bedroom: light warm tones, because dark rooms already have blackout doing the drama
  3. Kids' room: the one place a bold call pays — they grow out of nothing faster than beige
  4. Kitchen: light and forgiving of oil film, so light greys and creams
  5. Balcony doors: olive, sand or charcoal, judged from the inside at evening, which is when they are seen

Two practical rules

  • Judge in light, not in swatch: a sample viewed in shop white lies about every window in Delhi. Walk it to a window at the hour the room lives
  • Mechanism colour matters: white rails vanish on light fabrics; matched rails keep dark blinds clean at the top edge — specified at configuration

Colour sits inside the price the same way everywhere: it is the fabric grade that costs, not the tint — roller ₹100–₹250/sq ft, zebra ₹120–₹190, GST included, tables in the 2026 price guide. The Block E, Mangolpuri sample rail runs the full palette against real windows, and the counter keeps a north-light and a sun-side corner for exactly this decision, Mon–Sat 10am–7pm.
