Sheer & Day-Night Honeycomb Blinds: Light on Your Terms

Sheer by day, private by night — one blind, two moods.
Standard honeycomb blinds give you one fabric grade per window. Day-night honeycomb blinds stack two fabrics in one headrail — a sheer or light-filtering band and a blackout band — so you glide from soft daylight to privacy to darkness without a second blind.
How day-night honeycomb blinds work
Two honeycomb cell bands, one above the other. Slide the bands so the sheer cells cover the glass and the room glows; slide the blackout cells over and the room goes dark. The middle position gives you stripes of both — hence the "day and night" name.
Sheer honeycomb blinds (single fabric)
Sheer honeycomb blinds keep the insulating cell structure but use a translucent fabric. They soften direct sun, cut the harsh midday glare and still insulate — the right call for living rooms where you want the view, just civilised. Grey honeycomb blinds are the neutral that photographs best: warm greys suit north light, cool greys suit bright south-facing rooms.
Day-night vs alternatives
- vs zebra blinds: zebra blinds are one fabric with alternating sheer/dim bands (see zebra guide); day-night honeycombs are two separate fabrics — better insulation, bigger price step
- vs single honeycomb: day-night adds the blackout option a bedroom needs
- vs honeycomb venetian / honeycomb roller: those terms usually describe honeycomb-style slats or cell-textured roller fabric — they look cellular but tilt or roll; the real insulating product is the pleated cell blind
Where day-night honeycomb earns its keep
- Bedrooms: light for mornings, blackout for naps and night
- Home offices: glare control at 2 pm without losing the daylight at 10 am
- Kids' rooms: choose cordless lift for safety
Buying online and what it costs
Honeycomb blinds are priced per square foot of billable area with a 10 sq ft minimum per window — the cell structure puts them above roller and PVC, comparable to good wooden blinds. Buying honeycomb blinds online is straightforward once you have width and drop from the measuring guide; "perfect fit" style blinds clip into the window bead and need a deeper recess check. Exact pricing in the honeycomb blinds configurator — measure with the guide or our AR tool to see both fabric bands against your own window.
