Motorised Blinds Cost in India (2026): What the Motor Adds

You are not buying the motor. You are buying the wiring decision.

Motorised blinds are priced as two purchases: the blind you already know how to price (from ₹100/sq ft roller, ₹120–₹190 zebra, GST included) and the motor that drives it. The second number is the one nobody publishes clearly. Here is ours.

What motorisation adds — roughly ₹3,000–₹6,500 per window

The add-on covers the motor itself, the control point (remote, wall switch, or both), the extra tube hardware for motor fitting, and the workshop time to set the travel limits. Simpler motors at the lower end, rechargeable battery units and smart-connected units at the upper end. Both roller and zebra blinds can be motorised; the blind's own fabric price is unchanged.

Battery, wired, or solar — the real decision

  • Battery: no wiring, charge every 6–18 months depending on use — the standard retrofit choice
  • Wired: endless power, never think about it; best installed during a fit-out or renovation when the wall is open anyway
  • Smart hubs and voice: schedule blinds with the sun, integrate with Alexa or Google Home — see the hybrid guide for control systems

Rooms that earn motorisation first

  1. Hard-to-reach windows — above a bed, behind furniture, over stairwells; nobody misses the chain
  2. Stacked bank of windows — one remote moving six blinds is a genuinely different room at 2 pm
  3. Balcony and sun-facing runs — scheduled closing at peak heat without being home — the sunscreen case
  4. The second blind. Start with bedrooms; motorise the living room when the budget wants a second round

Budgeting the whole thing

A 4×5 ft motorised roller in standard fabric lands around ₹5,000–₹9,100 per window all-in (₹2,000–₹2,600 blind + motor add-on); a 6-window home typically adds ₹18,000–₹39,000 over the manual version. Configure a blind on the roller page to see the motorised total for your exact size before you commit, and compare motor options side by side in the price guide. Wiring runs decided before false ceilings go up are the cheapest decision in this whole article.
