The living room is the one room used from morning to night. The blind has to work both shifts.

The living room is the only room in an Indian home with a full day of jobs: daylight at breakfast, glare control by lunch, privacy and screen-friendly lighting at night. One blind, three shifts — which is why this room drives more decisions than any other.

Zebra or roller? The daylight question

  • Zebra wins where the room is used all day. Sheer bands keep the room bright through the morning; slide to dense for evening privacy. A 4×5 ft window from ₹2,400, typically ₹3,700
  • Roller wins where the wall has one job. A TV wall wants dim-out or sunscreen (₹100–₹130/sq ft range for most fabrics) — flatten the glare, keep the room cool for the 4 pm match
  • The honest test: does anyone sit in this room before 11 am? Zebra. Is the room mostly an evening room? A roller does everything a zebra would, for less

Big windows and sliding glass

Living rooms often carry the widest glass in the home — balcony sliders, full-height windows, corner runs. Two rules keep them elegant: prefer one wide blind per opening over two panels (one join, one control), and allow a stack side where the fabric disappears by day. On anything over about 8 ft wide or 8 ft tall, motorisation (roughly ₹3,000–₹6,500 per window) earns its cost — one remote against a long daily reach.

Colour, honestly

Warm neutrals — ivory, sand, oatmeal, warm grey — are why most living rooms in Delhi look calmer after blinds go up; they hold the wall's light without competing with the sofa. Deeper tones read as rooms get larger. The showroom rail at Block E, Mangolpuri holds the actual colour range against daylight — worth an hour if the room matters to you.

What it costs

Roller from ₹100/sq ft (most fabrics ₹100–₹130), zebra ₹120–₹190, GST included, 10 sq ft minimum per window; a big living-room window at 5×6 ft runs from ₹3,000 (roller) or ₹3,600 (zebra). Price the actual window on the roller or zebra pages — and see blinds for the living room for style-by-style picks with room-specific FAQs.
