Blinds for Shops and Showrooms: Frontage That Works Both Shifts

A shop window has two audiences: the street by day and the security light by night.

Storefront glass works two shifts: by day it sells, by night it protects stock from street light, dust and eyes. A shutter does neither gracefully — the right blind does both, and the specification depends on which shift you cannot afford to lose.

The frontage vocabulary

  • Zebra blinds: the classic shop answer — sheer bands keep the window display legible to pedestrians while taking the glare off glass cases; slide to dense at closing and the street sees silhouettes, not stock. From ₹120/sq ft
  • Sunscreen rollers: where stock fades — textiles, paint, anything dyed — the 1–3% openness cuts UV and heat while keeping a viewed-in look. From ₹100/sq ft at the light end, higher for tight weaves
  • Blackout rollers: jewellery and phone-store logic — full contrast for display lighting, full darkness after hours

The practical spec, from Delhi retail experience

  1. One blind per glass run: joins interrupt graphics; a 12 ft frontage in one zebra reads like architecture, two panels read like compromise
  2. Wide frontages want motorisation: raising a 15 ft drop twice daily by chain is an abandoned habit by month two — a scheduled motor (₹3,000–₹6,500 per window) closes the shop without touching it
  3. Windsor and market lanes: dust is the enemy of display glass; smooth woven fabrics wipe on the same cloth as the glass itself
  4. Fit after hours: installation across Delhi NCR schedules before opening or after closing as standard — a selling day never pauses for a bracket

Costs, in shopkeeper terms

A typical 8×7 ft frontage runs roughly ₹5,600 in zebra fabric (56 sq ft at ₹100–₹190/sq ft, GST included) plus the motor if chosen; Kirti Nagar, Wazirpur and Karol Bagh storefronts in the darker retail-belt fabrics usually quote around this band. GST invoice with every order for the accounts file.

Send a frontage photo and a closing time — the reply comes back as a per-opening quote, and the zebra page prices the exact width while you wait. Showroom frontages already kitted: walk Wazirpur to Karol Bagh on a Sunday and count the ones with clean top lines — that is the standard this spec reaches, and our workshop at Block E, Mangolpuri runs the same rails for shops and homes alike.
