Roller Blind Problems and Fixes: Sag, Slow Roll, Stuck Chain

Nine blind complaints in ten are adjustment, not replacement.
Roller blinds are mechanically simple enough that most problems have a diagnosis you can do standing at the window. Before booking anything, run this list.
Sagging or wrinkled fabric
Nine times in ten it is a tube under-rated for the blind's width, or a fabric rolled on slightly off-line. Check: lower fully and look across the bottom bar — a diagonal means the roll is skewed. Gentle fix: lower, then let the spring retract in one controlled run while guiding the fabric straight. If it returns skewed, it is an adjustment visit — and on a blind we made, a covered one.
Slow to rise, or shoots up
The spring tension has drifted with the seasons — normal after a year or two, and a ten-minute adjustment. The window between "slow" and "shooting" is usually one turn of tension; do not over-tighten chasing perfection, or the mechanism starts wearing itself.
Chain skipping or stuck
Check the chain is seated in the sprocket groove at the control end, and that the chain's bottom loop is anchored per the installation guide — a loose loop loves to catch on sills and furniture. A skipped chain re-seats with the blind removed, two screws, less than five minutes. Fighting a jammed chain with force is how a cheap fix becomes a mechanism replacement.
Wobbling bracket
Wall fixings loosen when the wall was soft at install; retighten once, and if it recurs, the anchor needs upgrading — a two-minute conversation with a Philips head and the right plug. Do not add a second screw into crumbly plaster; the load wants a better anchor, not another hole.
Stains and stubborn marks
Wipe early with a damp microfibre and mild soap, top-to-bottom, single passes. Grease from a kitchen — the one stain class you should not DIY aggressively; send a photo and we will advise whether spot treatment or a fabric swap is the sane answer.
When it is a warranty matter
Fabric faults, mechanism failures and motor faults inside the 3-year warranty are our problem, not yours — the mechanism conversation is free at the Block E, Mangolpuri workshop, and photos resolve most of it without a visit. Replacement parts stay stocked precisely because we manufacture the same blinds daily; the roller page shows the current range if the diagnosis really is "time for a new one", and the price guide keeps that decision honest.
