Blind Measurement Mistakes That Cost Real Money

Millimetres are free at the measuring stage and expensive at every stage after.

Made-to-measure blinds turn three or four measured numbers into furniture that fits to the millimetre — which makes the measuring stage the highest-leverage five minutes of the whole purchase. These are the seven mistakes that generate remakes, in the order they occur.

The seven

  1. Measuring at one point. Recesses taper, plumb leaves, plaster wanders. Width at top, middle and bottom; drop at left, centre and right; inside mount takes the smallest of each trio. The guide scripts it exactly
  2. Mounting confusion mid-measure. Inside and outside mount measure different dimensions with different additions (3 inches overlap per side, 4 above for outside). Decide mount first, measure second
  3. Centimetres typed as inches. The classic live-chat day-ruiner. Write width × height in one unit throughout — the form at checkout tells you which, and the AR tool sidesteps the problem entirely
  4. Obstructions discovered late. Handles, grilles, deep sill lips, a fan's swept blade and window-opening arcs each change the headrail's home. Photograph the opening with a coin for scale — send it with any order, or capture it in the AR flow
  5. The drop that ends on the sill. A blind cut to the timber looks finished — until the monsoon, when the timber looks at the blind. Leave 1–2 cm clearance, or go deliberately below with a tuck
  6. Reusing one window's numbers for the next. "They look the same" is how a bedroom blind ends up 3 cm proud over the study window. Every window gets its own line, labelled on a sketch
  7. Measuring with confidence instead of with a tape. Pacing a wall, remembering from the last flats, estimating "about four feet" — the four most expensive words in the category

The insurance policy

Order-side checkers catch transposed digits before production — every BlindsBazaar order is human-checked before cutting — but even good checkers cannot see your room. The free site measurement across Delhi NCR exists for contested decisions; and the Block E, Mangolpuri counter will sanity-check a hand-drawn window list at a glance, Mon–Sat. The price guide prices the remakes you will not have, from ₹100/sq ft roller, GST included.
