Made-to-measure sounds bespoke and expensive. Online, it is just typing two numbers.

Indian windows are almost never a "standard size", which is why made-to-measure blinds are the default, not a luxury. Buying them online simply means supplying two honest numbers per window and choosing a mount. Here is the entire process.

Why made-to-measure beats ready-made

A ready-made blind that is 2 cm too narrow leaves a light gap you will see every morning; one that is too wide will not fit. Made-to-measure is cut to your exact opening — and online, it usually costs no more than a ready-made plus the fabric you picked, because there is no bespoke showroom overhead. The size ranges themselves are in the size chart.

The three numbers that matter

  1. Width — for inside-recess, measure left, centre and right and use the smallest
  2. Drop — top, middle and bottom; use the smallest
  3. Mount — inside the recess (flush) or outside it (adds ~75 mm overlap to cover the gap), decided by recess depth and obstructions. The rules are in the mount comparison and the full method in the measuring guide

Tolerances, in plain terms

Made-to-measure is cut to the numbers you send, within a small manufacturing tolerance (usually a couple of millimetres). For an inside-recess blind that is why we take the smallest measurement — a slightly generous size is the one that will not fit. Outside mount is forgiving by design: extra overlap only helps.

How ordering actually flows

  • Choose the blind type and fabric (see fabric guide)
  • Enter exact width and drop per window — the price updates per square foot as you type, with the 10 sq ft per-window minimum applied automatically
  • Confirm inside/outside and hardware colour
  • We make and deliver; fitting is per window (details in the installation cost guide)

On delivery speed

Genuine made-to-measure is cut to order, so it is not literally "next day" for complex fabrics — the honest timeline is a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the material and motors. Anyone promising instant delivery of a custom size is shipping a ready-made blind to you, not a made-to-measure one.

The reliable way to order with confidence is to self-measure with a tool that records real dimensions and returns a per-window quote: the AR self-measure tool. Or start typing sizes on the made-to-measure roller configurator and watch the total update.
