The systems

1. Outdoor roller shades: heavy-duty HDPE or PVC-coated mesh on a weather-sealed cassette; fixed-guide wires stop the fabric flapping in wind
2. Zip systems: the fabric runs in side channels — no gaps, no rattle, the premium option for exposed terraces
3. Motorised drop: one-touch deployment; pair with a wind sensor that auto-raises the shade in storms

Choosing the fabric

• HDPE mesh (90–95% block): airflow passes, view retained — the everyday choice
• PVC-coated polyester: rain-proof, fully opaque, wipe-clean
• UV-stabilised thread and stainless fittings: non-negotiable; ordinary indoor fabrics shred within two seasons

Monsoon and maintenance notes

Retract mesh shades in heavy rain and strong wind (or let the wind sensor do it). Rinse dust off monthly, check the guide wires twice a year, and grease the motor track annually. Done right, outdoor shades run for years with near-zero attention.
