Buying Wooden Blinds Online: What to Check First

Wooden blinds are the fastest way to make a room feel finished — warm grain, clean lines, serious light control. Buying them online is now entirely normal, provided you know what to check before clicking order.
1. Which wood?
- Basswood: the premium standard — light, stable, fine grain, takes stains evenly
- Bamboo: sustainable, textured, often woven rather than slatted (see our bamboo blinds)
- Composite / faux wood: the humidity-proof alternative — heavier, but bathroom-safe
2. Slat width
35 mm suits most Indian home windows; 50 mm shows more grain and suits larger windows, but stacks taller when raised — check you have headroom above the window for the raised stack.
3. Where wooden blinds do NOT belong
Any humid room: bathrooms, kitchens near the stove, balconies that get rain seepage. Wood absorbs moisture, warps, and no warranty covers that. Use PVC or aluminium there instead.
4. How online pricing works
Reputable sellers price per square foot of billable area, not per blind. You enter width × drop, the area is computed (with a 10 sq ft minimum per window), fabric/finish grade adjusts the rate, and installation + GST are line items you can see. Ours shows the full breakdown in the configurator before you commit — try it on the wooden blinds page.
5. Measurements: the one thing you cannot return
Made-to-measure blinds are cut for your window and cannot be resold — measure per the exact guide, or remove all risk with a free professional measurement. Our fitter measures, you order from the quote, the same pair installs it.
6. What "good" looks like on delivery
- Slats without visible filler or colour mismatch
- A tilt wand or cord that moves all slats in unison, silently
- Bottom rails that sit level on your sill
- Child-safe tensioners on all cords
Get those right and wooden blinds online cost noticeably less than showroom retail for the same basswood.
