Blinds for a Delhi Dust Life: Fabrics That Forgive
Team BlindsBazaar5 October 20264 min read

In Delhi, the best blind is the one whose worst week wipes off in a minute.
Between October's dust and the construction season the rest of the year, a Delhi window treatment gets stress-tested harder than in most world cities. The survivors are all in one family: smooth, woven, roller-cut fabrics you can wipe.
The forgiveness ranking
- Roller fabric, smooth weave: dust sits on the surface; a damp microfibre cloth takes it off in one pass. The category winner, from ₹100/sq ft
- Zebra, denser weaves: same surface behaviour in the premium fabrics (₹170–₹190/sq ft); entry weaves hold a little more in the band texture — still a weekly-minute job
- Blackout-coated fabrics: wipe beautifully, but keep them closed when the dust storms roll — coating dislikes repeated aggressive scrubbing
- Textured and slatted anything: each groove is a dust trap with a price tag attached at cleaning time
The two-minute Delhi routine
- Weekly: vacuum dust-off brush or dry microfibre over the drop with the blind fully lowered
- Monthly: damp cloth, mild soap, top-to-bottom single passes; never scrub circles into blackout coatings
- After a dust storm: the same as monthly — do not let the first layer sit for the season
Choices that help the dust game
- Prefer lighter colours — dust shows on charcoal right after a wipe
- Inside mount keeps the fabric edge out of the sill dust line; outside mount trades that for light control — pick per room
- Balcony-facing doors: zebra, because it also handles the light; utility rooms: plain roller, because it handles the Wi-Fi bill, the dust, and everything else
Prices behave normally: roller from ₹100/sq ft, zebra ₹120–₹190, GST in, 10 sq ft minimum — the tables are in the 2026 price guide, and your fabric's exact rate shows on the roller page before checkout. Handling the samples is genuinely the best dust test: at Block E, Mangolpuri the wipe-cloth is on the counter for exactly this, Mon–Sat 10am–7pm.
