Blind Installation Cost: What Fitting Blinds Costs per Window

The blind is per square foot; the installation is per window. Keep the two separate.
Two different numbers decide what blinds cost you: the blind itself (priced per square foot of billable area) and the installation (priced per window, per job). Knowing which is which stops quotes from feeling like a riddle.
How custom blinds are priced
Custom shades cost by area: width × drop in square feet, with a 10 sq ft minimum per window, multiplied by the fabric grade rate. A small window therefore costs the minimum regardless of its true area — the honest way to think of it is "per window, with a floor". Fabric grade, blackout lining and motorisation move the per-sq-ft rate; the maths is identical on every product page configurator.
What installation costs per window
- Standard inside/outside mount: a fixed per-window fitting charge — the market in Delhi NCR runs roughly ₹250–500 per window, often bundled free on larger orders
- Difficult mounts: lintel drilling in old brick, false ceilings, curved or bay openings — priced per job after a site look
- Motorised blinds: the motor costs more than the chain (see the motorisation guide); wiring is usually a small extra unless the wall needs chasing
- Removal of old blinds: small per-window charge, or free with a full-house order
Where quotes hide surprises
- Hardware quality — nylon vs aluminium brackets, chain tensioners
- GST on the final invoice — check whether the quote includes it
- Travel charges for out-of-town jobs
- Minimum order values on "free installation" offers
The honest total for a typical room
A standard 1.5 × 1.8 m window in a mid-grade roller fabric works out to roughly ₹4,000–7,000 fully fitted, tax included — most of which is the fabric area, not the fitting. Motorised and blackout-lined versions step up from there.
